Bills vs. Jets score: On Monday Night Football, Buffalo defeats New York 23-20 after fending off a Hail Mary.

One play can summarize the 2024 New York Planes. Mike Williams is falling to the ground.

Despite numerous errors, including a surprising number of penalties and a couple of significant missed field goals, the Jets had a chance to defeat the Buffalo Bills in their first game with interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich in place of fired Robert Saleh. For what appeared to be a significant gain, Aaron Rodgers found Williams downfield, which would have put the Jets in the red zone. However, as Williams began to return to the ball, he tumbled down. That made it possible for Bills cornerback Taron Johnson to dive in front of Williams and make an interception that won the game.

This is the Jets' current season. They tripped over themselves to get to a unique opportunity for something special. The Bills pursued out the clock that interference and won 23-20.

Prior to the game, the Jets were aware of the stakes. They would be 3-3 and first in the AFC East with a victory. They would be two games behind the Bills with a disappointing record of 2-4 if they lost. Even in the middle of October, the Jets felt like they had to win this game, especially after the coaching change upended the organization.

There will be no further coaching changes. The Jets lost, leaving them with a significant hole to fill. Their inability to get out of their own way is not helping matters.
